Listen, I love all of you and want you to still come to my parties, but I gotta get this off my chest.
I get it. Politics is distasteful. You think all politicians are the same, they are all corrupt, they are all liars...well, you can change that. You can get involved or encourage someone who you think should get involved, but all this "I'm not gonna vote cause they all suck" or "I'm gonna decline my vote cause they all suck" isn't an answer.
Why? Because even though YOU aren't voting, someone else will. And their votes count. Hell, YOUR votes count. Don't believe the lie that they don't. If your vote didn't count, Stephen Harper would never have tried to push through the most un-democratic piece of legislation in recent Canadian history in order to stop you from voting.
If your vote didn't matter, then there wouldn't be people out there pulling dirty tricks, like this fake "decline your vote" movement...that really benefits one political party. If your vote didn't matter, they wouldn't be going through all this. But your vote matters. Your voice matters. And if you don't vote, you're letting someone else speak for you!
Listen, we live in a society...together. We have obligations to each other whether we like it or not. We all affect each other, whether we like it or not. You HAVE to vote, because if you don't, you're allowing someone else to dictate your life. Some random idiot will go out there and vote for something that will piss you off and you will be victim to it.
